In opposite to that what they are telling the public – in order to get money –
Laserfusion is NOT the way towards a future power plant.

I have bought these 10 grams Lithiumhydride fifteen years ago.
Just for my desk, my fun and motivation.
Because these 10 grams LiH contain – THEORETICALLY –

1 mol LiH is 8 grams = 6 x 10^23 LiH molecules , each pair Li,H has a fusion energy content of about 20 MeV = 2 x 10^7 eV, 1 eV is 1,6 x 10^-19 Joules = Ws
so I get (10/8) x 6 x 10^23 x 2 x 10^7 x 1,6 x 10-19 Ws = 2,4 x 10^12 Ws = 6,66 x 10^5 kWh =
…the energy content of about 100 tons coal.
This sounds great – as every clever fraud and fairy tale does.
The problem is to IGNITE THIS FIRE.
Europe squanders 15 billion dollars for ITER…. not telling the public that the tritium supply and other reasons will NOT allow an economical power plant soon.
I am not against this research and have spent by myself many weeks thinking about this.
But I do not dream that such a fusion power plant will be ready in this 21st century.
