My thesis is:
There where you see the bubbles…. hot gas comes up…. 1200 C hot.
Roughly estimated 50 m^3/s. Day by day. Year by year.
I think that in this long time billions of gas bubbles have molten a perpendicular some meter wide channel.
Through which we could "look" into earth interior and do experiments:
Temperature depending on depth
Magma speed
Imagine a 200 meter long steel wire from the rim right over the bubble to the other side of ERTA ALE´s crater.
Will a heavy sphere from steel/molybdenum/tungsten on a 100 km or even 200 km long tungsten wire (melting point 3400 C) sink down and down and down towards earth geocenter ?
This is the first KEY HOLE EXPERIMENT.
If successful – there will be many….
Am I the first human beeing who has ever thought this easy idea ?
This experiment has a big scientific value .

Danke für den interessanten Hinweis, insbesondere auf die Geologin Cynthia Ebinger von der University of Rochester.
Weder der ERTA ALE noch mein leider immer noch nicht von der Fachwelt zur Kenntnis genommenes KEYHOLE-EXPERIMENT hat sich damit erledigt.
Dass ERTA ALE ab und zu überläuft las ich irgendwo.
Einfach ab und zu nachschauen.
Der SPIEGEL hatte seine Afrika-bricht-auseinander-Story, aber ich denke heute an diesem Mittwoch, brodelt ERTA ALE friedlich wie immer.
Ich sollte diese Frage der Geologin Cynthia Ebinger von der University of Rochester stellen.
Selbst wenn
A) das direkte KEYHOLE-EXPERIMENT, also das Ausloten und Entdecken eines direkten senkrechten Kanals/Schlots
nicht geht
schlage ich vor
B) diesen Kanal zu suchen und anzubohren,

Geologic disposal in a mined repository is the most promising and technically accepted option available for safely isolating high-level nuclear wastes for very long periods of time……"
… if you ignore that in case of a volcanic eruption this radioactive waste could enter biosphere.

… if you ignore the same foreseeable national and international political stress
as in Gorleben and Yucca Mountain

should not follow BRC´s SECOND BEST advise.

What you find is the copy of that what Sweden and Finland did with their nuclear waste.

Ich habe Cynthia Ebinger eine EMail geschickt und warte auf Ihre Antwort und Meinung zum KEYHOLE-EXPERIMENT
ja du hast recht, ich hatte nach dem artikel-datum geschaut, der war vom februar, aber im artikel steht ja, dass der vulkan schon im november ausbrach.
Klar, der Spiegel-Artikel ist ziemlich reißerisch (im wahrsten sinne des wortes), doch zeigt es die ziemliche Unberechenbarkeit der Natur. Stell dir mal vor, 3 Wochen vorher hätten wir, sagen wir mal 50 Endlagerfässchen drin versenkt, die gegend wäre dort im ziemlich weiten Umkreis sehr sehr lange nicht mehr bewohnbar.
Ich habe einfach nur Bedenken, selbst in ein künstlich gebohrtes Loch etwas zu versenken.
Die Wahrscheinlichkeit von einem Supergau pro ATomkraftwerk in 10.000 Jahren bedeutet eben in der Realität einen Abstand von 27 Jahren zwischen zwei Unfällen, gerechnet über alle Atomkraftwerke, eine Zahl, die durch die Geschichte bestätigt wurde.
Ich denke, die Geister, die wir riefen, werden wir einfach nicht mehr los.
Wo kam die Asche her, die Pompeji begrub ?
Die wissenschaftliche Gemeinde sollte das noch diskutieren, aber ich vermute:
Aus der oberflächennahen Magmakammer des Vesuv – NICHT aus 100 km Tiefe.
Deine 50 Fässchen wären nicht wieder hochgekommen, wenn Sie einmal 100 km erreicht haben.
Und zwar durch Absinken unter ihrem eigenen Gewicht – wie ein Stein im Wasser.
Einmal 100 km tief angekommen brauchen Deine 50 Fässer 1 Mio Jahre bis Unterkante Erdkruste.
Googele bitte KONTINENTALDRIFT und denke nach.
Ein Fass sinkt so tief bis es schmilzt.
Kein Mensch weiss, ob in 50 km oder in 500 km Tiefe die 1500 Grad Schmelztemperatur eines Stahlsasses oder die 3400 Grad einer WOLFRAM-ATOM-MÜLL-TÜTE erreicht sind.
Schon deshalb ist mein KEYHOLE-Experiment von grundsätzlichem wissenschaftlichem Interesse.
Falls meine These stimmt und an der dieser einzigartigen Stelle ERTA ALE bereits ein "natürliches Schlüsselloch" existiert – man also nicht bohren muss – sollte man als nächstes dort eine Forschungsstation aufbauen.
Und folgendes klären:
Wie ist die Erdeinnentemperatur in Abhängigkeit von der Tiefe ?
Wie gross ist die die Kontinentaldrift antreibende Magmakonvektion ?

Ich werde auf gar keinen Fall kampflos hinnehmen, dass BRC nach Ignorierung im DRAFT DISPOSAL REPORT meinen in ca. 50 EMails entwickelten WORKPLAN nicht im FINAL REPORT ausführlich würdigt.
Wenn die das nicht tun – und da nutzen jetzt auch keine netten weiteren EMails mehr – dann "trete ich denen die Tür ein" .
Das sollen die ruhig wissen und bekommen hiermit eine Kopie, was für mich nur ein Mausklick Arbeit ist.
